Iron and manganese contamination can present serious problems with private water supply’s, particularly with deep bored wells. If you are experiencing unpleasant metallic tastes, rust particles, staining on the bath and sink and other plumbing fixtures, or red water, this may be a sign that iron or manganese are present. Black deposits inside of appliances such as kettles can also be evidence of manganese. The first step we would recommend is carrying out a water test.

To deal effectively with these issues we use a large cylinder filled with media, allowing good contact time is essential with an automatic back wash valve so the unit can clean itself.

Types of treatment media and equipment will vary according to the levels of iron or manganese, turbidity, daily water usage and other water parameters which can be determined with a water analysis. We will then come up with a system to bring the iron & manganese levels back within EU drinking water level parameters.
